A: You've been so hard on John. What's wrong with him?
B: He has given me so much trouble.
A: What kind of trouble?
B: To make a long story short, he's very nosy.
★ be hard on [with] (someone)
★ What's wrong with (someone)?
★ To make a long story short「长话短说」,更简洁的说法可用In short一语。
Interestingly
enough, ...「有趣的是,...」Strangely (enough), ...「奇怪的是,...」To be
frank with you, ...「坦白说,...」
Teller 2: There is one other option, but you'll have to pay
more.
Elaine:
Money, money, money! That's all people ask for these days!
Teller
2: International express mail will get to the States in plenty
of time.
Elaine:
OK, so, how much MONEY will that cost?
Teller
2: About double the cost of regular shipping. But it will
arrive in less than one week--guaranteed.
Elaine:
I have no choice! [sighs] Uhh. It's time to get another cash
advance.
Teller
2: You can fill out the express forms right here--I won't
make you line up again, OK?
Elaine:
Yeah, well, I don't feel like celebrating.
